    The product is broken.
This is not my blog. Let's be clear about that. It may have a name that I have chosen. It may have content I have picked. It may be filled with stories and comments which have irreplaceable sentimental value to me. But it's not mine.

This blog belongs to LiveJournal, and LiveJournal can take it away any time it wishes. For any reason it wishes. The deletion of all of [info]ponderosa121's journals tell me this.

Let's look exactly at what happened here.

    The depressing details )

This is not about protecting children. This is about a philosophy of blogging that is based on conservative religious values and commercialism, and conducts itself in a private, user-unfriendly way.

I can't support a company that treats people's intellectual property so callously. I can't put my trust in a company that rules by squick rather than reason and is downright dishonest and secretive. I have no desire to support a company that suffers from homophobia. Nor one that has no sympathy or care about it's paid users. This service no longer reflects my values, and is inadequate for my blogging needs.

It will probably take a while for me to switch over (I need to get a hold of a copy of Windows, and wait until my husband is healthy enough to help me use it to transfer my files over). I'm going to try to find a way to download my journal to either Greatest Journal or Insane Journal (I have an account in both places). But I won't be putting more content on it. When I finish, I'll let you all know, give you links.

I'll leave this journal up until LJ deletes it. Which honestly could be any time. After all it just takes one person to report me, on LJ's nifty new "snitch" button, and I'll be gone.

    WTF LJ you fuckers
[info]ponderosa121, one of the best artists in several fandoms, has just gotten her journal suspended because she draws porny pictures of fandom characters -- who happen to be less than 18. So yes, they are specifically going after fandom.

So. I'm not abandoning LJ yet, but I'm going to start moving my fics over to Greatest Journal. I'll redo my master fic list to link there. I still haven't found a way to adequately back up my LJ and save the comments, which sucks. I hope I don't end up losing them all.

I'm going to talk to Tsu about moving FFQ to Greatest Journal -- probably starting over from there.

EDIT: I think there's a lot going on on GJ right now. Their server doesn't seem that robust.

    The Dimension of Intellect
I'm trying to wrap my brains around Flatterland, a book designed to making learning how dimensions work more palatable by adding a sugar coating of story. It's still pretty brainbusting work wrapping my head around such concepts as dimension 1.2618595071429. And there are higher and odder dimensions than that.

Harry Potter Spoilers! -- The Husband's version.
So after I finished hijacking Harry Potter7 away from my Husband (really honestly, I planned on letting him read it first, out of love and such... but if the dude's gonna take a break to play video games, well then, deals off!), he got a chance to read it. And he had his reactions to it. Which being that he's 79% more artistic and 98% less long winded than I am, he put out in comic book form.

    Behold my hubby's brilliance!

    Thank You CoE!!!!
A bunch of CoEer's got together and, you know, I think they must know me or something, because they got the perfect gifts. First Tsu took me out to get the pedicure, which was about 10% painting my nails and about 80% sheer decadence. (The final 10 percent was having my feet subjected to very sharp strangely shaped impliments-- I'm a brave person. I swear I am.)

The second half I haven't collected on yet, but I swear I need it badly. Tsu handed me a certificate an hour and a half massage. That's really long! (Course I think 10 minutes is pretty long for a massage). I'm looking forward to doing it. Even though there is no promise of a "happy ending" I think I will be quite happy at the end of it.

Thank you, all of you. You guys are really so thoughtful!

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
Horrors it's a penis post!. Porn writers aren't the only ones with porn vision apparently. But putting those posts in bondage isn't really that helpful imo.

OMG, I got a virtual gift! Thank you [info]fireun!

EDIT: [info]wiccat how did you know I needed more panties!

EDIT AGAIN: Thank you so much for the virtual gift [info]lynx212 That's so sweet!

    Rant about AU's
I love love love AU's and AT's, and I'll defend the concept to the death. But dear lordie, sometimes I get the idea that people can't tell the difference between an AU/AT and plain old lazy writing.

    Manga Rec: Genshiken
Honestly, I don't think I've ever read a manga that made me laugh out loud the way Genshiken does -- regularly. It is, hands down, the funniest Manga I've read, and it's addictive, which amazes me since it's so far from my preferred fare.

It's completely domestic -- if a bit twisted. No magical powers, no saving the universe. Just a bunch of college students hanging around discussing anime and reading porn doujins.

And yet, it's hysterically funny, because it is just like us. Genshiken is short for: The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture. Under this thin veneer of respectability, the club is simply a shameless excuse indulging in fannish fun. The group starts by being all men, who spend their time heatedly discussing the importance of their completely absurd favorite anime, one uping each other in knowledge of anime theme song cell phone ring tones, and sharing their porn. Lots of porn -- of their favorite anime girls. Real girls? Ew.

But gradually, one by one, the group is infiltrated by real girls, who put their own indelible foot print on the club. Not that this stops the porn. It just mildly alters the mix of porn left strewn across the table. Including some Haregan doujins -- of the General. Yeah.

The Anime is also a lot of fun, but I think my preference is more towards the manga. They cover a lot of the same ground, but where the Anime lets off is where, in my mind, the real fun starts.

    You know...
Writing fanfic is illegal in kind of the same way speeding is illegal. It's not some great moral shame. Just keep an eye out for the cops, and if you get caught with a C & D (which statistically is almost as rare as getting struck by lightning) then you pull down your fic. I think that the likelihood of fanfic being stamped out by the likes of Fanlib or whoever is perishingly small.

Writing about illegal activities is even LESS illegal. I dare you, name me a movie, tv show, book aimed at kids older than 8 with absolutely no depictions of illegal activity in it. No harrassment. No truancy. No underaged smoking or drinking. No kids out past curfew. No murders. No threats. No breaking and entering, theft, or distruction of property. No threats, no stalking, no assaults or murder. No underaged sex. No incest. No rape.

Authorial Responsibility? Writing is not an dangerous activity. I'm not some form of Super Mommy to the reading community. I am not here to make sure my readers are moral. I'm not required to teach my readers about Ethics either. My only responsiblity, if it can be termed that, is to entertain, and if I fail in that duty, then it's my readers responsibility to stop reading.

The last thing Fandom needs is a book burning.

    Walk down memory lane.
You know the Cold War? Probably not, though you may have slept through an hour or two of it in 11th grade History -- towards the end of the year, when your grades were already pretty well fixed and it wasn't like the teacher was going to give you a test on the nuances.

I was reminded of the Cold War today, and it seems so strange, so completely surreal to think back on it. The Cold War was not a real war, you see. It was sort of a "fanfic" of war. Never really canon. There, but not really there. A sort of world-wide "what if?" The philosophy behind the war was called MAD: Mutually Assured Destruction. When I graduated High School, there were enough nukes to vaporize the entire surface of the Earth many times over, but the US and the Russians kept making more. And they threatened each other, played Chicken with nukes. Earnestly going up to the line, then backing down, again and again.

So... *puff, puff* Was it good for you, too?
Time to take off the condom F-locking on my Master fic list, as it appears the Gang Bang Strikethrough 07 is over for now. SixApart appears to be superficially respectful of Fandom's enormous Venom Cock. And as soon as [info]pornish_pixies is back up we can put all this unity behind us and go back to ship bashing and writing porn.

But before we completely move on I'd like to give us a bit of a celebratory hi-five, because there aught to be awards handed out for that epic performance.

    Now THAT'S entertainment )

    DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD:
Witchhunts and stupidity on the internet? Say it isn't so!

I'm not the kind that usually jumps on the paranoia bandwagon, but something rotten is going on in the state of LJ right now, and so I think small precautions are in order.

There's a lot of suspensions going down -- and a lot of them for no good reason. This is the work of the thought police.

For the record I don't condone child rape, and I'm not sexually interested in children in the least, but that's really not a criteria of having your LJ suspended. All that is needed is apparently the offhanded appearance of being a sexual predator, and if someone looks deeply enough at my fics, there's some iffy things there. Which I wrote because I'm a fan of psychological horror, but not of gore.

I think [info]liz_marcs is right on money when she points out that not only is this scaring the bejezus out of ordinary lj users, it's actually ultimately making life harder on those who are going after legitimate pedophiles.

Even though none of my interests would create a blip on this witch-hunting radar, I've taken the precaution of friendslocking my Master Fic list for the next, oh, couple of days until this all cools down and blows over. I'm also looking over FFQ to make sure it doesn't have anything (outwardly) questionable about it.

Anime Series Recc: Le Chevalier D'Eon
I just finished watching the 2nd DVD of Le Chevalier D'Eon and wow... just freaking wow. I rec this series so damn much, I do. I've only seen the first 8 episodes (of 24) but everything I've read says that it stays consistantly this good to the end.
